"Dear Lord,  please bless Dr. Quack's doggy cancer project!"

Most Recent (as of 12 JUN 08):

Livestock/ Animal Research:

SAMBEAGLE (2000) -- My childhood dog. Nursed back to life 3 times; Died of stomach cancer at 16.5 years age -- dehydration, IV hydration by the local vet; Died of a heart attack upon feeling better.

GEORGE'S SICKLY HORSE -- Founder (Horse Diabetes/Thrush). Zero treatment rendered. Overall observations and study of eyes.  George is a retired farrier (horse shoer) and a real Arizona cowboy/ redneck.  We call him a "horse whisperer" because he's spent a lifetime around them and just knows horses. He's a crusty ol' cowboy with a crippled back (from horses, of course) and a bit like that trainer from the Sea Biscuit movie. This guy knows horses and D.V.M.'s just pass him whatever drugs he wants to use, but...phew!!!....was his poor horse so Allopathically trashed.

CHARLES --  A local Wolf Spider rescued from a freaked out neighbor one day. Decided not to kill him or release him, and so studied him some as a pet until he starved to death. Observation of known homeopathic venom traits in consumption of local area frogs. Very similar traits to Tarantula as a homeopathic remedy. Casual study of frog eyes and patterns of death under spider neurotoxin and enzymatic assault.  This particular spider causes sickness and ulceration at the wound site which may be allieviated greatly by homeopathic nosode, homeopathic remedies, or perhaps the Tarantula remedy.  Died from my neglect before he could be milked because I had no idea what a ravenous appetite these things have!  They eat maybe a little frog per day out here and die after about a week without one.  Very interesting.

ROCKY (2005 to Present) --

120 pound Rottweiler puppy (rescued). Cure of weak stomach and GI tract; Too skinny when rescued. Previous abusive owners fed and watered him poorly. Adopted owner cleaned him up, but lingering digestive issues remained. No major parasites; Just weak guts/ intestinal dysbiosis; Need for more GI tract flora. Natural Medicine probiotics. Raw beef bones administered. Clean-up of mandatory vaccine effects. Adjustment to a more suitable Rottweiler diet higher in protein and fat. Study of canine eyes, gums, tongue, teeth. Enhanced wound healing and infection reversal (overnight) -- bad paw wound/ leg infection; About 5 to 7 fold increase in wound healing and infection resistance (Arnica Montana 30C). Fully healed and fully weight-bearing on all fours in 24 hours. Tactics could have been better refined. My healing touch was too strong and there was no need to aggravate the case like that in order to speed the healing.  That's a case where no homeopathy at all would have been better and less traumatic to the patient, though excellent results were obtained in the end.  Had he been a weak, sickly, and elderly dog...he'd likely be dead; for he suffered tremendously on the night before being healed.  Liquid remedies in lower dose or even another remedy would have been more appropriate.  A somewhat botched case back then, but carried well by puppy vitality.  (Natural Medicine, Classical Homeopathy, Nosodes).  As mentioned in the West Nile Virus section, on 5/5/06, I relieved and later cured near instantly a lesser paw sprain in Rocky by transitioning to Arnica Montana 12C in 7 tablespoons spring water solution and administering 1 tablespoon as a single dose (Advanced Classical Homeopathy).  Vastly more effective methodology over my previous (Mediocre Homeopathy).  August 06 -- Various incidents of upset stomach and diarrhea (lasting as long as 5 days once) whenever drinking from livestock troughs with a higher bacteria content.   Water cleaned up.  Arsenicum album 12C in medicinal solution and water bowl applied as-needed.   Symptoms usually eliminated within 20 minutes and lasting until the next water drinking incident.  11/9/06 -- possible Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis or Staph infection spread due to drinking from goat water  in the last month.   Dermatitis, psoriasis, open pustule.  Excess mucous discharge from  the eyes.  Horrible breath and pustule odor.  University of Florida believes C.pseudotuberculosis impossible to spread to dogs; More likely a Staph infection (which goats do carry).  Treated with a single dose of Hepar sulphuris calcareum 12C in medicinal solution.   Eyes cleared up and pustule dried up next day.  No upset stomach.  Doggy spirits lifted.  Slight depression and fever passing, but feeling much better as of 11/12/06.  11/21/06 -- Rocky weighed at 118.6 lbs.

KAT -- PTSDS psychotic. Patient exhibits highly anti-social behavior. :-) No quack medicine strong enough. Dosed on Prozak daily. Assigned to farm security duties in conjunction with Rocky. Some say a classic Sulfur constitution at work along side more recent pathology just barely soothed over by Nux Vomica.

DOTTIE GOAT (2006/ PENDING) -- Study of goat eyes. Cleanup of intestinal problems; Pre-Cancerous; Possible skin cancer manifestations; Too skinny over winter. I believe we will see cancer in her at some point, but the treatment of animals is very different from people because they cannot just come out and talk to you about their symptoms.  You have to look deeply for the illness patterns and here is where the eyes and overall observations are key.  (Transition to 100% grass fed, zero grain supplementation, and only Advanced Classical Homeopathy against skin cancer). 5/10/06 Note:  Winter "hollows" around the abdomen have vanished.  The goats are fattening up nicely and were too skinny from confinement until better fences could be set up along with better relationship established with Rocky.  Now that they roam freely, they eat more and continually.  Healthy baby buck born to her 8/06.

BOBBIE GOAT (2006/ PENDING) --  Conjunctivitis -- probably allergic acquired among field grasses.  Baby goat seems to have a bit of Hayfever sensitivity.  It's spring.  He's short.  Doesn't take much for is eye to have rubbed on a bad flower out there.  Bacterial/ Viral infection presumed. Left eye very white mucous clouded, heavy tearing, squinting, earlier swollen.  No apparent itch.   Remedy:  Euphrasia 12C dissolved in 8 TBS distilled water, succussed 10 times, 1 TSP dissolved in 8 TBS dilution glass.  1 Teaspoon dose given as a first test dose on 6/15/06.  Problem fixed.  Eye maybe saved.

ENHANCED ANIMAL SURVIVABILITY (2006) -- Small fish subjected to common, household chemical assault in water displayed from 17% to over 522% survivability rate under the same controls when protected by homeopathic remedies. When reliably killed with chemical attack in less than 45 seconds, the "quack" tactics so far extend lifespan -- in fish --  in the same environment.  The 17% to 522% variance comes from differences in remedy preparation and application while much more survivability can be achieved as methods are perfected.  If immediately removed from the environment, they would become long-term chronic illness and repair cases. Tactics such at these may someday be extended to soldiers on the battlefied for use against chemical and biological threats. As our continued research in cancer cases shows, the tactics are also useful in a variety of poisoning and antidote cases. Nothing new or secret there. Just further proof that Homeopathy is not from Placebo Effect, but rather is a mysterious, modern physics problem still waiting to be solved.  The fish kills continue to be my primary method of remedy calibration and modelling since a large number of controls can be used all in the same environment.  Depending upon the poison in attack and remedy in countermeasure, there is an optimum potency and preparation method overall.  Often, higher dosing is actually less effective than a properly prepared lower potency.

OSTEO-ARTHRITIC RACE HORSE -- Misc. topics discussed with owner and study.

RHEUMATOID ARTHRITIC RACE HORSE -- Misc. topics discussed with owner and study.

R. RANCH GOATS & DOGS -- August to Oct 2006 -- purchased 2 dairy goats and accepted 1 retired dairy goat.  Made friends with rancher familiar with homeopathy.  Talked about her various animal health issues there among penned conditions.  The rancher tends to vaccinate, deworm, use antibiotics, and apply ample allopathic tactics among crowded conditions where stock health is already difficult to upkeep.

Doe 1 -- Identified one goat with parasitic / possibly pre-founder conditions.  Secluded, frail, little weight gain in recent weeks.  Suggested the alfalfa hay was too "hot"; Maybe worms.  De-worming and hay switch began.  Animal improved.

Doe 2 -- Mastitis with abscess in the milk.  Rancher continued milking and application of antibiotics.  Improvement noted.  I suggested homeopathic remedies from the Materia Medica.

Some remedies for Inflammation of the breasts (mastitis).  Italics remedies are strongly indicated.

Aconite, Ant.t, Apis, Arnica, Arsenicum album, Belladonna, Bryonia, Calcarea carbonica, Chamomile, Cisus, Con, Crot.t, Ferr.p, Galega, Graph, Hep, Lac.c, Lachesis, Mercury, Phell, Phosphorous, Phyt, Plant., Pulsatilla, Sabad, Sil, Sul.  See also Pain/ Swelling (if it is present). Is there any pain or tenderness to the touch?   If so, Belladonna and Bryonia are more suitable.  If not, Pulsatilla should do fine. Abscess.   For this, Bryonia is indicated while Phosphorous is strongly indicated.  So, at this stage, I'd then go with Bryonia if there's pain and/ or tenderness of the breasts or Phosphorous over Pulsatilla if there is no pain or tenderness.  She may have other woes and chronic digestive issues making her more prone to infection, but the mastitis/ abscess issue is the most acute.   ORDER OF PRESCRIPTIONS:

Pulsatilla antidotes and well follows Phosphorous. Phosphorous antidotes and well follows Pulsatilla. Bryonia antidotes and well follows Phosphorous or Pulsatilla. Phosphorous and Pulsatilla antidote and well follow Bryonia.

...Advised a test dosing scheme in medicinal solution until a favorable reaction is found.  Where no reaction is noted, begin complimentary rotation to the next indicated remedy.  Stop where improvement trend occurs.  Continue dosing in solution and split-dose methods whenever needed and at the plateau of primary vs. secondary actions.

Doe 3 -- Arthritic.  Difficulty standing on one leg.  Typically rests on a tree stump.  Arnica applied by owner and pain relief was noted.  Owner tried some Arsenicum album.  Suggested Bryonia.  Some improvement and reduction in knee swelling noted.  Animal continues to improve on Bryonia.

Doe 4 --  Old.  Nux vomica noted for helping her with symptoms some.

Buck 1 --  About 13 years old.  Extensive dry, scaly psoriasis-like formations noted all along back.  Was doing well a week prior.  Friendly, gentle old buck.   No major defects noted in the eyes other than typical skin & lymphatic congestion; Some psychosomatic stress/ cramp rings seen.  A week later, this buck's left front knee oddly swelled up.  No pain or soreness visible, but he did not desire to walk on it. The buck lay in one spot and stopped eating.  Emaciation began.   Arnica montana tended to bring his head up and have him eating again.  Arsenicum album tried by owner later (antidotal and complimentary to the earlier Arnica).  Bryonia then tried.  The buck continues to remain at peace and dying as of this writing.  The remedies have him eating a bit. Decision will be made by the owner today about whether or not to euthanize.  Probably remedies were rotated too rapidly and sticking with the Arnica in higher strength rather than rotating into the better matched Bryonia would have been more suitable in getting him off the deathbed.  Provided information on anesthesia/ euthanasia alternatives to .22 gunshot methods -- alcohol injection and/or herbal overdose with a common extract noted to cause sudden death with no symptoms, Helium gas, or any form of gas suffocation.

"Lucy"-- canine bitch.   Old dog.  Urinates on sleeping.  Suggested medicinal solution of Pulsatilla.   Removed a sample of fatty tumor pus for vaccination/ nosode work.   Lucy improved significantly under the remedy as did her arthritis.   She is noted as more frisky lately.

Doe 5, "Serena" -- Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis.  Observed methods in lancing of skin abscess and antibiotic application.  Took some pus samples for vaccination/ nosode generation.  Treatment revolves around alternating nosode and remedy applications.   Slight emaciation; Possible worms.  Earlier chemical deworming on the ranch; Numerous anitbiotic applications over the years. Slight arthritic swelling present in the knees, but no pain present.   Hooves okay; No founder. Freshly trimmed. Began with Belladonna 12C in medicinal solution (one #15 pellet in 12 TBS spring water, no dilution glass; One teaspoon test dose given 17 OCT 06.).  20 OCT 06 -- opted for Belladonna 200C in 7 TBS spring water; 1.0 mL syringe dose.   As of 5 NOV 06, some knee joint swelling seems to be reduced.  The animal no longer limps after being herded by Rocky and is eating well.  Seems okay.  Just a little slow and old lady-like in running now.  Still working on her, but observing at this point before redosing.  Overall, she seems a bit better.  Starting to fatten up and eat plenty.

Arthritic Paralysis:

17 NOV 06 -- Cold weather set in more recently.  Goat did not get up all day.  Rested in field.  Difficulty walking and standing on legs. Slight weak from not eating.   Began feeding field clover by hand.  Gave one pellet of Belladonna 200C in 20 mL water dose -- for gait, staggering unsteady & previous effects it helped.  Animal began trying to stand within 30 minutes, but still unsteady Trailered to shelter, padded bedding, covered with hay to keep warm, and kept feeding.  Massage of animal & joints showed no tenderness, but warmth.  Most difficulty with front elbows giving out under weight bearing.  Symptoms fine otherwise, eating, and has been slightly gaining weight.

18 NOV 06 --  Continued animal tie-down & forced rest with hand feeding.  Based upon chart, decided upon Rhus Toxicodendron 13C, one #15 pellet in 99 drops spring water; 100 succussions as a complimentary follow to Belladonna and better match.  Goat doing better today, standing, eating, walking around a bit... but resting.

19 NOV 06 -- Found goat standing in stable.  Hand fed some clover.  Very hungry.  Admin one 0.2 mL dose of Rhus Tox 13 C.   Walked on rope.  Gait much less tottering.  One stumble.  Walked around some for therapy.  Decided to cut her loose into the pasture today.  10:34 a.m. -- grazing with the other goats; No problems.

11/20/06 -- 09: 15 -- Experimental rapid rotation into Belladonna 200C again.   Condition same and improving.  Goat has been walking all over the 4 acre pasture.  Gait improved; more sure-footed.  Fallen a couple times when knocked by other goats or walking over uneven ground.  Eating well.

NOTE:  Dammit!  Right here, I should have kept discipline and probably not given that second dose of Belladonna 200C.  Should have listened to my own preaching and let the earlier remedy's action complete!  Continued down the idiot homeopath course.

11/21/06 -- This morning, she won't get up again.  Likely worn down from yesterday -- did a lot of walking and had a great recovery.  No pain evident.  Probably stiff and arthritic hurting.  She was walking all over yesterday, standing, and grazing very well.

(FURTHER BOTCHED THE CASE RIGHT ABOUT HERE):

Should have kept her tied down longer with hand feeding. Animal wants to rest in warmth of shelter.  Hand fed. Hit with another dose of Belladonna 200C -- 10 more succussions. 0.2 mL sublingual.  (What an idiot!!!  Idiot!!!  Aaaaaaagh!!!  I know better.  Let sympathy, impatience, and allopathic re-dose instinct corrupt me.  Too much Belladonna power here; Case likely rapidly entering into aggravation/ proving for the next week. ) Will continue hand feeding and let her get up on her own today when she's ready.  17:30 -- hand fed goat all day.  Goat unwilling to get up even to feed.   No action noted from remedy today.  Stumped.  Not sure if she wore down yesterday and needs stronger remedy action or if the second dose was given too soon and therefore weakened the first.  Possibly also in an aggravation phase rather than weakening of the remedy due to close spacing of the 200C remedy hits.   Best to back off on dosing for a bit and continue feeding;  Recalculating treatment strategy.  See if she'll get up on her own as no additional remedies are given for awhile.  Patient remains strong, but just unwilling to walk.  May take Rocky out tomorrow to force her up and see if it is lost will (from pain or stiffness) or muscular incapacity to get up.  No weakness observed.

11/22/06 -- EXPERIMENTAL (Possibly not the wisest course): Partial antidote of Belladonna by complimentary rotation into Rhus Tox 13C, 100 succussions further, 10 drops w/ single dilution glass (8TBS); .7 mL dose (a fairly large dose).  Continued hand feeding -- clover and grain today (emergency deviation from my 100% grass feeding due to convenience and nutritional need).  Letting her rest and feed.  Some motion in stable today adjusting her position.  No sickness or suffering; Just still won't get up.  Suspect I was too aggressive with the Belladonna.  Either aggravated the condition or have worn off the power among dose repetition.  No other Belladonna proving symptoms apparent, so most likely weakened the earlier doses with repetition.  Best to antidote and back off; Use lower potencies; Start over.  Keep her stable and try again later. 17:35 -- goat still strong and feeding well.  Some motion in stable again adjusting her position, but she didn't get out of the rain. Appears to be incapacity more so than will or mental incapacity.  Goat alert and normal otherwise.  Had to carry her back under shelter.  If more motion is seen tomorrow, antidotal & complimentary Rhus Tox may be applied in greater potency.  If no motion tomorrow even with the dog running around to motivate her, I might go with Aconite as an antidote to both Belladonna and Rhus Tox while also anti-paralytic.  Then, rotate into another remedy.  Considering additional Rhus Tox, Cocculus, Causticum, Gelsemium, or Aconite.  Possible re-application of Bell 200C after wiping the slate clean to eliminate aggravation possibility.  Rhus Tox is also a very good, complimentary fit that could be amplified in medicinal power.  Still many, many options to try.   Dammit!  I had her going well and then screwed up.  Though everything says aggravation/ proving, I think we're dealing with weakening of Belladonna's medicinal power due to rapid dose repetition.   Need to think about it more.  May opt to just back off and let today's Rhus Tox application take course.  When in doubt, stop, observe, and conserve medicine.  If we're in aggravation, she'll improve with no further dosing as the remedy's primary action wears off in a week.  If simply back where she was earlier due to weakening of the remedy with too rapid a repetition, a few days of doing nothing won't hurt, either. Might opt to antidote as an experiment.  We'll see tomorrow.  ** Normally, about here, you just stop feeding the goat and shoot it.   Still plenty of vitality left in her, though.  Just needs remedy adjustment and some extra labor in keeping the old lady alive.  A typical elderly case.

23 NOV 06 -- Serena is up and walking again!! :-)   A little unsteady in gait still.  She walked about 100 yards today in trying to graze with her sisters, but I tied her down and am forcing her to rest near her shelter awhile more.  No more homeopathic medicine for today.  We'll let the Rhus toxicodendron run its course.  Continued hand feeding and some grain.   It should also be noted that a rosary was promised on Serena's behalf last night and that I would credit God with the matter when she walked again.  Very appropriate for a Thanksgiving Day! :-)

24 NOV 06 -- Goat put herself into warmth of shelter last night, but did not get up again this morning.  Temperatures dropped pretty low last night. Medicine appears to have worn off.  10:10 -- admin Rhus tox. 12C; 8 TBS jar, 100 succussions, 1 TSP extraction, 8 TBS dilution glass, 1 tsp extraction, 8 TBS dilution glass, 1.0 mL dose.

25 NOV 06 -- Condition about the same.  Not walking yet.  Still laying in shelter.  Given some grain.  Rhus tox in 8 TBS jar succussed another 100 times.  1 drop into 99 drops water.  Succussed 100 times.  0.25 mL dose given at 09:45.   12:15 -- gave 10 more succussions to vile and .25 dose.  Animal somewhat cold, shivers, resting head on hay bale, no appetite, upset stomach heard, moans/ pain.  Condition significantly worse today.   Considering switch back to Belladonna 200C or Rhus Tox in higher potency.  Patience, patience, patience.   Could be in aggravation on the Rhus tox from this a.m.  If so, the second dose might dampen the first's primary action while building up in cumulative power.   Best to back off on any further dosing;  See if this worsening passes by tomorrow a.m.  13:27 -- Goat more calm.  No pain.  Nibbled some grain, but still no appetite or thirst.  Rhus tox should help with that.  Seems somewhat disoriented.  Head is still up.  Will keep waiting out the Rhus tox action.   Suspect possible aggravation still wearing off. 16:40 -- Condition stable.  Eating in nibbles.  Peaceful.  No pain.  No suffering apparent.  Better, but not strong.

26 NOV 06 -- Serena is peaceful, resting, eating well.  No pain.  Not walking yet, but it's too rainy out for her to bother.  Some movement in shelter.   Covered her in hay.  Hand feeding.  10:00 -- Hit with a rotation into .3 mL Belladonna 200C again.  14:06 -- Condition stable, eating grain well, drinking well.  No pain.  No moaning.  No digestive upset. Covered again in hay due to some shuffling around and reposition in stable.   Prediction: If holding off on any further dosing, we might just see her standing and walking around some within a day or two...I hope!  Sane ranch-keeping says to shoot her, but it's far too soon for that.  She's actually my favorite goat here.  The rest are brats or aloof unless you have treats.  Serena's a real sweetie pooh.  Doesn't break through my fences and destroy things just for fun.  She's actually the matriarch of the goat family here.  I notice they stick by her side now that she's sick.  Reminds me very much of tending to my 103 year-old grand aunt.

28 NOV 06 -- Goat not walking on the 27th.  No further dosing.  Slight motion in pen.  Peaceful.  Continued hand feeding.  By 13:30 today, the goat managed to get up and walk after pestered by the dog!! :-)   Serena then hobbled 100 yards, then another 300 yards before resting and not wanting to get up.  Took the trailer and dog out to fetch her, but being scared of the dog had her up again and walking.  So, we walked another 200 yards back to the shelter.  Let her rest, but she rose up again and continues to stand and graze.  Difficulty walking and with gait still, but much better again.  No further dosing.  Stop, watch, wait.

29-30 NOV 06 -- No further dosing on the 29th.  Goat rested all day in shelter.  Moved around a bit.  Probably tired from the previous day.   Hand fed.  Wondered if remedy wore off or if just tired.  Did not dose.  07:00 on 30 Nov -- Serena is up and out walking around with the other goats.  Gait is a little tottering, but standing strong, coordinated, and functional.   No further dosing.  Goat walked maybe a total of 1000 yards while grazing today. Fell once when bucked by another goat, rested a bit, and rose again.  Put herself back into her sheter for the night.

1 DEC 06 -- No further dosing.   Serena is walking well, grazing with her sisters, and resting with them in the pasture as of 11 a.m.   Yippie!!  For now.  :-)  Goat walked about 1000 yards total today, grazed, stumbled some, and returned on her own to shelter with other animals.

2 DEC 06 -- Goat down again (remedy clearly wore off).  Rested in shelter all day.  Not eating much.

3 DEC 06 -- Goat pretty weak this morning.  Having difficulty keeping head up.  Not eating much.  Weak from not eating much.   Again, seems a few days to a week from death.  Ate a few handfuls of clover, some grain, and some sips of watter. Belladonna 201C, 50 additional succussions of vial, 0.3 mL dose.  Dragged her over to rest in the warmth of sunlight.  No pain apparent.  No moaning.  Peak action of this Bell 201C is clearly too strong for her and should be adjusted in solution better for the next dose.  Remedy seems to be lasting 4 to 5 days.  Too soon to give up on her, but with her need for higher strength dosing and continual tendency for relapse, it is evident we're fighting a deeply entrenched chronic condition probably more so than old age.  Serena's remaining vitality does respond pretty well, but not fully to the 200C remedy.  Next trial should be in additional dilution -- shooting for less initial aggravation and more duration while stepping up to 202C potency. * I would go with the LM scale rather than 200C, but need to upgrade my inventory to carry Belladonna and others in mother tincture form.  Rhus tox in LM scale or 200C would probably be more suitable, but this has also been an experiment in the utility of pretty closely matched remedies.  We have the best response out of the Belladonna on hand with no case complications other than aggravation and remedy weakening, and so I have favored to go with it until the situation warrants otherwise.  Prediction: If we keep feeding her through this period, she'll likely be up grazing again within a couple days.  Or, she'll worsen more rapidly.  She could collapse and die at any time while feeling better and grazing or down like this -- part due to being frail; Also due to the high potency approach used here.  I am pushing the case harder than I normally would for pets and people.

4 DEC 06 --  Goat still down. Hand feeding grain mush in water.  Weak.  Not eating much. Can't keep head up.  No additional dosing.  Continued feeding.

5 DEC 06 -- Goat still down. Weakening.  Belladonna action should have kicked in by now if vitality level was the same as previous.   End stage weakness/ debility/ adynamia, muscular weakness, tremors, appetite less, coldness...are the primary symptoms now dwarfing all previous.  Other symptoms in background.  Decided upon 1 pellet (#25)  Arsenicum album 30C in 100 drops spring water (31C; 10 succussions) with 0.3 mL dose as a complimentary/ antidotal to Belladonna.  Would go with Belladonna again or a rotation into Rhus Tox, but death bed Adynamia with slight tremors and chill is the primary picture at the moment.  09:55 dose given.   Fed liquified grain and clover earlier.  Eating about 1/3rd normal.  17:20 -- Goat moved in her shelter earlier to reposition.  Still down.  Can't keep her head up much.  Gave one drop Ars. alb. 31C in 180 mL; Then 0.9 mL dose.  Continued liquified grain feeding.

6 DEC 06 -- Goat still down.  Condition about the same.  No significant suffering.  Peaceful.   Weak, debility.  Same Ars. alb symptoms but peaceful overall.   Little eating.  14:10 -- Decided to go with an experimental high potency of Ars. alb CM in 8 TBS spring water; 0.3 mL dose -- to either rapidly worsen and kill her or significantly reach more deeply.

to 10 DEC 06 -- Condition still the same.  Slowly worsening.  Animal at peace, but weak.  Not eating much.  Repeated Ars. alb CM dose.  Case will transition to some experimental moves and homeopathic euthanasia.

to 17 DEC 06 -- Continued Arsenicum album doses.   Animal at peace, but feeling miserable.  Not eating in a couple days. No doses able to lift her back up, but still fairly strong and just dying slowly.   Remedies seemed to extend her deathbed time.  She started to cry more and was one of my favorite goats.  Decided no further reason to continue the experiment.   Peace given by Arsenicum album doesn't cover hunger pangs.  Took Serena's life quickly at 18:30 PST.

Livestock Pathogen Eradication & Prevention

Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis -- a.k.a. Preisz-Nocard bacillus or C. ovis.  Tends to cause the condtion Caseous lymphadenitis in goats & sheep.  Th systemic infection typically invades the skin and lymphatic tissues.  Goats tend to encapsulate and push out any bacteria through the skin -- resulting in widespread abscess.  Where the pus breaks open naturally, it is possible to infect more of the herd, and so ranchers commonly lance and contain the abscess.  Commercial vaccine has been used, but seems ineffective under overcrowding conditions and does not take full advantage of all immune system barriers.

Advised rancher on ancient Oriental vaccine method superiority over modern forms.  Suggested taking a bit of the pus per goat, boiling it, mixing with water, and squirting up the nasal passages to tap all immunity levels in the nose, throat, and stomach prior to bloodstream entry (modified variolation).   This ancient tactic (variolation), in conjunction with homeopathic nosode (isopathy) and homeopathic remedies for all else, should result in reduction of pathogen levels and contain spread within the herd, though the overcrowding conditions will tend to encourage any disease.

Accepted one infected doe -- age 4 -- and two other likely carriers for more healthy pasture conditions at Dr. Quack's ranch and continued work against the pathogen.   Began nosode generation.  Infection of whole Dr. Quack ranch herd presumed likely due to inconvenience in keeping the animals separate.  Focus remains on boosting animal vitality, better diet, more exercise, fresh air, homeopathic action, and isopathic vaccine tactics while tracking the containment and eradication of this particular pathogen.

Human dangers?   Some cases of serious human illness have been noted among ranchers with excess livestock contact and with the immunocompromised, but the infection is common to goat and sheep ranchers everywhere.  As with any pathogen danger, patient vitality and immuno strength against such exposure is the only shield.  Sanitation methods are also key.   Unconventional methods in eradication of this disease and protective measures against it will be documented herein.   The animals at Dr. Quack Ranch will continue to show little or no pathogen activity despite exposure and continual reduction of the condition.   Information may later be circulated on the matter, but one university professor/ D.V.M. expert on this strain reports that goat lifestyle and diet changes alone alongside excision will often cure the problem.   No matter what is done here, it will be difficult to prove it was from homeopathy.

Skin Cancer/ Fibrosarcoma?/ Renal failure --  11/12/06 -- "Joe".  German Shepherd male.  Age 12.  Loss of appetite, periodic depression, weak legs, debility, multiple tumors, urinary frequency, other.   Owner, Chris, with 21 years veterinary medicine experience interested in alternative options.   Case Strategy:   Nux Vomica 6X to 12C test dosing in medicinal solution / dilution glass methods.   Rotation into Arsenicum album.  Nosode, sarcode, isopathy work.   Modified variolation.   Initial attack at generalities and constitutional; then drainage remedy work prior to hitting the cancer pathology.  Case status:  Joe died 12/8/06.   Owner reported Joe on his last legs, but wanted to try some Nux.  She had to go on a trip and leave him in an animal hospital; Suspected he might worsen there.  Apparently, Joe continued to lose weight while there.  When she returned, he had a couple good days and then went downhill rapidly.

Lessons learned:   Difficult to say with certainty, but, as with Serena goat and other end stage cases taken by homeopathy, when the prognosis is dismal and the patient too worn down, often the right remedy will render slight to significant improvement followed by more rapid collapse.   Sometimes, you can hit them with slightly stronger remedies from there, extract additional life and function, and then they collapse all the harder.  Homeopathy becomes a kind of peaceful euthanasia that allows them greater quality of life for a time and then rapid collapse.  If I were closer to Joe and with sufficient remedies on hand, perhaps his decline could have been arrested.  But, as with my dying old goat, I find death bed cases very much like trying to break free from a black hole with some badly damaged rocket ship.  Often, you can extend the orbit and stability of the flight, but, where the vitality is so exhausted, attempts to even hold orbit or escape only burn life (fuel) at faster rate.   Animal cases are easier to reverse in earlier stages and much harder in end stages.  With humans, we can more tightly map the symptom / disease picture.  It also takes extensive nursing labor to hold animals and people strong and stable at these low vitality levels.  Possibly, if we had caught Joe at that point where he went rapidly downhill and adjusted the remedy stronger or alternated to a different one, it may have been possible to recover him.  Or maybe not.  The rapid loss of Joe also makes me wonder if perhaps Phosphorous and some drainage remedy work in mother tincture form might not have been the better course from the start.  Possibly Joe's renal failure pathology was more severe than his immediate symptoms. In any case, had I been there in-person or in closer contact with the case, some additional adjustment could have been made which would have led to either improvement or more rapid decline.

....So far, I score very well in cure of little, acute woes and rendering gradual improvement to chronic diseases outside of end-stage cases.  My end-stage score can be improved over time, though.  In the case of Serena goat, I was too aggressive and, though giving her very dramatic improvement for a time, botched it.  One can argue that the pull of death in her was too great -- and perhaps so -- but a greater probability is that my tactics with end-stage cases and overall homeopathic skill needs much more improvement.   Didn't have proper medicine on hand for Serena, and so used the best I had on hand.  Probably could have recovered her over a longer period if not so harsh and rapid with the homeopathy.

ARC policy changes:  Joe's case highlights a need to change the way we're doing things here.  I'm not going to take anymore animal cases on-line without being sure clients can rapidly obtain and adjust their remedies.   Further, with such end stage cases, I really need almost daily telephone contact with the client rather than email when telling about a remedy to try and then hearing back only when the animal is dead.  Though Joe's condition was bad, had we communicated better, maybe he could have been recovered.  I did not have the opportunity to pull out all possible options.  If I keep working end-stage cases like this, all I'll have is a long list of cases lost!  If anything, mistakes made on this case show a need to follow-up with the patient more frequently and to more greatly control any redosing; To go over all these issues with clients beforehand.   Right at that point where Joe was doing well a couple days and then rapidly relapsing, some new remedy or adjustment should have been made.  Would it have made Joe live longer or reach cure?   It might have been possible to extract a bit more life and function out of Joe, followed by additional rapid collapse.  Or, he might have gone on much longer.  Or, no reaction would have been found and only worsening.  Age 12 in a German Shepherd with his condition is a tough case, but possibly something further could have been done if more remedy action was inserted on his downturn.

** During any case, the patient will see up and downswings.   Downswings happen as the remedy wears off, or when remedies are applied too rapidly, too strongly, or not enough.  A quack has to follow-up well and much more frequently -- in bedside / housecall fashion -- in order to have the best chance at deathbed reversals.  It cannot be proven that I killed Joe and the owner does not think so, but there are some revisions that need to be made in regard to how I manage future case communications.  Here, I failed to catch Joe on his relapse, certainly.  A second possibility exists in appropriateness of the remedy selection and potency.  Many other possibilities.  All you can do is try.   About here, homeopaths tend to make many excuses, blame something else, and do not talk honestly about their failures.  Thus, failures are never learned from and used to improve future tactics.  The bottom line is that the animal had some life left in him.  As with Serena goat, Joe was on an improvement trend and that was lost.  Only two possibilities there:

1) The true prognosis was so dismal that any positive changes in the case only lead to harsh relapse and that would seem to be the case;

2) Or, we botched it somewhere from failure to properly grasp at the life force and pathology -- maybe the remedy was incorrect, too weak, not repeated enough, or not strong enough.

If everything were perfect, we should have seen Joe improve gradually over longer periods.  The true evaluation of this case is that Joe cannot be so readily dismissed as end-stage, terminal, and lost due to his own weakness.  That's the easy explanation which does not further advance our profession and skills.

Case difficulty and margin for error can be depicted as follows.  Both Serena goat and Joe fit in the steeper slope of Exhaustion to Deathbed stage chronic illness which took years to develop.  The pull of "gravity" to death is very strong in such cases. In Serena goat, I tried harsh and rapid rock-climbing to get her higher up the mountain of life, but it seems to have worn her down and stumbled further. A foot placed improperly while frantically trying to climb a steep mountain only has you fall further down with wounds and more fatigue.

In Joe's case, I tried to guide him up the hill with much more gentle and careful steps, but something slipped somewhere and we failed to catch his tumble backwards through insufficient case follow-up and frequency of communications.  Email doesn't cut it for end-stage cases and that will have to be changed. Here, it really pisses me off that I'm scoring 100% failure so far in the 3 end-stage animal cases taken as of 12/11/06 (Buck 1, Serena goat, Joe dog). In my more successful animal and human work to date, I score 100% no harm done and at least slight to significant improvement or cure rendered, but those are all far easier Alarm to Pathology stage cases with much more room for error and time to take a gentle and slow remedy approach.  Clearly, my strategy, tactics, and methods need refinement from Exhaustion to Deathbed stages if I am to render anything other than palliation in future years.

I honestly disclose these considerations so clients fully know the difficulties in working a case and maybe other homeopaths can learn from my victories and failings.  I appreciate all honest and constructive peer criticism, though opinions on case management here will always be varied. It does not threaten me in any way to hear such input; for any homeopath with truly beneficial suggestions to add here has surely also lost patients among their failings, actions, or inactions.  I don't believe in bullshitting clients and least of all myself.  The homeopath who declares to have lost no such cases is either a liar, an idiot, or blames everything else without first looking at himself.  All in all, if Dr. Hahnemann were here, I am pretty certain he would not have lost Serena goat or Joe dog as rapidly.  Very easy it is to blame the patient and condition, but that doesn't improve our skills over time.  Any marginally functional idiot can reverse Alarm to Pathology stage illness.  Being able to reverse the deep Exhaustion to Deathbed cases reliably is the measure of a true, master homeopath.  More study and practice in this area is clearly needed on my part.  That Joe and Serena were end-stage cases on the way to the grave is not an acceptable answer.  A more sure-footed grip per end-stage case needs to be established while climbing such mountains and additional safety net factors installed.
