CASE HISTORY
PATIENT INTERVIEW -- MIASMS/ PSORA / FAMILY HISTORY / EARLY CHILDHOOD NOTES
* Snowman notes in Red, (Red parenthesis), (Bold Black parenthesis), CAPS, or Underline
"Father alcoholic and major extrovert and good ol boy who would give the shirt off his back to others (EXCESS MR. NICE GUY / WEAK PATERNAL SYNDROME, SO PERHAPS SHE GRAVITATES TOWARD ABUSIVE MALE RELATIONSHIPS SUBCONSCIOUSLY?), Was a carpenter and a machinist in his lifetime. Wasn't always dependable as a provider. Father died from lung cancer at age 61- starved to death from 185# carpenter to 89 #'s at death 8 months after diagnosed. Symptoms for two years prior to death.
Mom died from a stroke - Cerebral hemorrhage at the base of the skull at age 79. Borderline diabetic, thyroid inadequate, colitis (DYSBIOSIS/ CANDIDA RELATION), morbidly obese (CORTISOL/ ADRENAL/ THYROID), skin problems (infected nerve endings) (SUPPRESSED PSORA!!), very thin skin like I have developed that bled if scratched, severe arthritis. I think she may have had the candida. She had an intolerance to heat and wore cotton dresses during the winter. Nervous and touchy., introvert and controlling. Her sister had mental issues and was overdosed on shock therapy and lost a lot of her good memories. Cousin in Maternal grandmother's family hung in generation prior to my mother herself in the barn because of depression. (suicide)
*** NOTE: STRONG PULSATILLA-LIKE MATERNAL MIASMS HERE!!
Sister has fibromyalgia (NERVOUS SYSTEM), is morbidly obese (DEPRESSION COMFORT FOODS?) and is a smoker (MENTAL/NERVOUS SYSTEM). Emotionally unable to break out of her limitations and traps herself in a cycle of loss. Just gives up on life (MELANCHOLIA). Can't take risks. Very poor self-esteem.
....*** (Maternal, sister, aunt, cousin miasms are very interesting!!! You can almost see the flow and potential risks to you. PULSATILLA-LIKE IN SISTER, TOO.)
This is the part that is hard to share and I dread going over it again because my life has been one of extreme pain and loss. I had a summary but can't lay my hands on it right now. It would give you an overview of the family and my history. Will send if I can find it.)
Sexually abused at age 1 1/2 - 2 years
....ANGER/ LIVER/ WOOD; FEAR/ KIDNEY/ WATER
....(QUESTION: Was it once or repetitive? )
with an object (unlit cigar) while in the care of my father, friend and uncle who were drunk at the time. This was revealed to me at age 45 in a vision. Only one event was revealed. I couldn't take knowing any more than that. I think the vaginal repair I had with the bladder sling repair/hysterectomy 3 1/2 years ago showed some of the damage that may have occurred during that experience. I had a rectocele, urethrocele, and cystocele corrected at that time.
Chronic constipation during childhood.(LIVER/ ANGER./ WOOD) Mom served rich foods/ sugars and few vegetables. Suicidal depression from childhood until age 37 (RATHER NORMAL FOR CHILD MOLESTATION CASES; ANGER/LIVER/WOOD to CHILDHOOD JOY LOST to WORRY/HYPOCHONDRIA/SPLEEN to SADNESS/LUNG/AIRWAY ISSUES/METAL) when prayed over and the dark clouds I saw just above my eyebrows were removed (A CASE FOR RELIGION AS PSYCHIATRIC THERAPY --->>>. Still had depression but not suicidal.

PSYCHOSOMATIC/ PHYSIOLOGIC MODEL: Five Element Theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine
Hospitalized at age 19 for 2 weeks in mental hospital for observation. Broke down when at college (UNDER MENTAL AND PHYSICAL STRESS/ ACADEMIC PRESSURE/ OTHER; RATHER COMMON) and had freedom to make decisions for the first time in my life. (Never was praised, nor taught to be independent and the total freedom was too much for me.) Put on anti-depressants for many years (MIND-ALTERING; DEEP-REACHING; PERMANENT CHANGE MAKING), tried all 4 types of medicine and have been diagnosed as bi-polar (though that doesn't make sense) to dysthymic[chronic low-grade depression] - which I think is the more accurate diagnosis.
.....SNOWMAN NOTE: More allopathic drivel & pscyhobabble partly true in scientific observation; Vastly incomplete from the total symptom/ total disease picture. Interesting history all the same useful to the total picture.
I never felt happy (SADNESS/ LUNG/ AIRWAY/ METAL), always anxious and never felt connected to the world/safe/nor valued (natural flow from SADNESS to FEAR/KIDNEY/ WATER). I don't feel any of the medicines ever did me any good (typical of Allopathy).
Mother had been abused by her brother and her solution for that was to control everyone around her (THEREFORE, IS SHE CONDITIONED BEHAVIORALLY TO BE IN CONTROL AND SO FLOWS TO HYPOCHONDRIA/ ANXIETY WHEN LOSING CONTROL OF HEALTH AND UNDERSTANDING OF SITUATION? SUCH WOULD BE NORMAL.). I was told that being raised by a mother that was like that was enough to put me on disability by itself let alone the abuse.
......QUESTION: Sexual abuse? Or other? Overall maternal family seems to display some “itch” factor going on (suppressed Psora) and strong miasms (inherited streaks). Mental more so than physical, certainly -- as is most chronic disease in the physical. Rare is the chronic physical ailment not related greatly to out of balance lifestyles and mental balance.
Mother's brother died from cirrhosis of the liver (ALCHOLISM?/ MELANCHOLIA / OTHER) and her father was a narcissistic man, incapable of letting her know he loved her. Her mother died when I was one year old so I never knew her.
My father never let me know he loved me (Earlier ANGER, predominantly early childhood/ youth/ adult JOY LOST, to WORRY/OVER-THOUGHT/ HYPOCHONDRIA/ INSECURITY, to SADNESS/LUNG, to FEAR/KIDNEY, and back again to ANGER/LIVER = emotional & physical instability; a complete train wreck; INSECURITIES OVERALL.) either until he told me months before he died.
I felt disconnected from the world, dreamt in psychedelic colors never having a real dream until age 26 when I met the Lord. I felt so detached that I felt I was floating about two feet off the ground.
Slowly I am getting more connected but not secure. Sure would like to be loved someday (CARRY NO HIGH HOPES IN MEN. WITH AGE, THEY BECOME MORE GOOFY -- A MAZE OF CHRONIC MENTAL AND PHYSICAL DISORDERS; CHASING YOUNGER CHICKS, ETC. ONE HAS TO BE COMFORTABLE ALONE, BUT IT’S ALWAYS GOOD TO KEEP LOOKING).
...QUESTION: Visions? Any hallucinations? There’s a fine line between the two. A vision I describe as Divine Revelation; Something you instantly learn from and just know is from God; Doesn’t really disrupt the consciousness but is just “seen” in the mind’s eye -- like daydreaming and seeing far off in great detail while still paying attention in class. Hallucination and a more serious mental symptom is where you are continually suffering voices in the head, engaged in conversations with people who do not exist, and become totally detached from reality. I’m not hearing any such things from you. Wouldn’t really classify your mental woes as all that severe in regard to hallucination or reality loss. [HMO] put [A FAMILY MEMBER-CENSORED]on Prozak. While driving high speed, he once saw rabbits flying across his car hood. That’s 5HTP hallucination!
Older sister [3 years], Peggy, died at age 12 and I was 10 (SADNESS/LUNG/ AIRWAY; POSSIBLE ADDITIONAL RELATION TO HYPOCHONDRIA SYMPTOM STREAK IN YOUTH...WHICH WOULD BE FAIRLY NORMAL), one week before her 13th birthday from cancer of the bone and leukemia. It took them 6 months to diagnose her and two months for her to die after the diagnosis. She had a reclusive and private type of personality, very into reading.
Paternal grandfather died when I was 9. He was the only emotional fathering I had. A quiet and reclusive man, very gentle with me. {That is a great deal of why CENSORED AT HER REQUEST.}.
Maternal grandfather died when I was 15.
Paternal grandmother died when I was 16.
Mom's brother died when I was about 13 I think. Lots of death - not much joy (NATURAL FLOW TO WORRY/SPLEEN/HYPOCHONDRIA and then SADNESS/LUNG/ AIRWAY)- only poverty and loss and an emotionally/physically absent father.
At age 13 (SYMPTOMS STARTING AT PUBERTY!!! PULSATILLA, PULSATILLA, PULSATILLA!!) I began to have the stomach issues and chronic tonsillitis, which may have been allergies, but they pumped me with penicillin for 20 years while I had strep throat 4 times a year and tonsillitis in-between. Finally in my 30's I had my tonsils out. ALWAYS was sick. Then I continued the pattern of going to doctors for solutions. Some of that paid off and saved my life with the aneurysm.
....HYPOCHONDRIA NOTE: I don’t use it the way doctors often do in a judgmental sweep that a patient’s symptoms are invalid, but mostly that you have confusing physical and mental ailments, and so tend to aggravate them at times among worry over it. The physical condition is there. The mental anxiety tends to worsen it. I have it, too. Paying attention to the flow of your emotions along the Five Element Theory will help you to put some of that mental imbalance back into check so that the physical is more regulated.
ALWAYS cried. (SADNESS/ LUNG/ AIRWAY....Rather logical that you’d have all sorts of Respiratory woes in youth.) The tears were acceptable but anger was NOT allowed in our home (DOESN’T MATTER IF ALLOWED OR NOT; STILL THERE; EXPRESSION JUST WASN’T.)
HAVE TRIED TO DEAL WITH THESE THINGS BUT HAVE GOTTEN NOWHERE EXCEPT TO SPEND A LOT OF TIME REHEARSING IT TO DOCTORS. Don't remember ever having joy. IT is a stranger.
Diabetes Insipidus = I saw it recently on a TV program as I mentioned to you before. ...(DISREGARD, FOR) NOW.

I started out here closer to a Boennighausen method and tedious, total symptom survey rather than a quicker Kentian model, but always tend to keep Kent psychiatric priorities in mind.

FURTHER INTERVIEW QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
QUESTIONS FOR YOU.
Please rank the following symptoms on a score from 1 to 10 as you felt at the time. Ten being unbearable; One being not even noticed. If doctors gave the name but you felt nothing, rank it at 1. Stroke, for example, if you felt nothing is 1, but its other symptoms may be 10. Many of these you already ranked for me, but I'm expanding the list outward.

Prescriptions taken regularly
Synthroid .150 mg daily
HOMEOPATHIC CAUTION: Remedies will decrease the need for Synthroid, and so the Synthroid action and side effects should become more powerful. Thyrotoxicosis potential and other. Physician should immediately review drugs as symptoms change under homeopathy; M.D. supervised reduction of Synthroid dosage as needed; Best determined from lab data.
Synthroid (levothyroxine sodium tablets, USP)for hypothyroidism and suppression of thyroid-stimulating hormone. Abbott Laboratories. 200 Abbott Park RoadD-491/AP30-1EAbbott Park, IL 60064-6157.
SIDE EFFECTS
Adverse reactions other than those indicative of thyrotoxicosis as a result of therapeutic overdosage, either initially or during the maintenance periods, are rare (see OVERDOSAGE). Craniosynostosis has been associated with iatrogenic hyperthyroidism in infants receiving thyroid hormone replacement therapy. Inadequate doses of levothyroxine sodium may produce or fail to resolve symptoms of hypothyroidism. Hypersensitivity reactions to the product excipients, such as rash and urticaria, may occur. Partial hair loss may occur during the initial months of therapy, but is generally transient. The incidence of continued hair loss is unknown. Pseudotumor cerebri has been reported in pediatric patients receiving thyroid hormone replacement therapy.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
The magnitude and relative importance of the effects noted below are likely to be patient specific and may vary by such factors as age, gender, race, intercurrent illnesses, dose of either agent, additional concomitant medications, and timing of drug administration. Any agent that alters thyroid hormone synthesis, secretion, distribution, effect on target tissues, metabolism, or elimination may alter the optimal therapeutic dose of levothyroxine sodium.
Levothyroxine Sodium Absorption: The following agents may bind and decrease absorption of levothyroxine sodium from the gastrointestinal tract: aluminum hydoxide, cholestyramine resin, colestipol hydrochloride, ferrous sulfate, sodium polystyrene sulfonate, soybean flour (e.g., infant formula), sucralfate.
Binding to Serum Proteins: The following agents may either inhibit levothyroxine sodium binding to serum proteins or alter the concentrations of serum binding proteins: androgens and related anabolic hormones, asparaginase, clofibrate, estrogens and estrogen-containing compounds, 5-fluorouracil, furosemide, glucocorticoids, meclofenamic acid, mefenamic acid, methadone, perphenazine, phenylbutazone, phenytoin, salicylates, tamoxifen.
Thyroid Physiology: The following agents may alter thyroid hormone or TSH levels, generally by effects on thyroid hormone synthesis, secretion, distribution, metabolism, hormone action, or elimination, or altered TSH secretion: aminoglutethimide, p-aminosalicylic acid, amiodarone, androgens and related anabolic hormones, complex anions (thiocyanate, perchlorate, pertechnetate), antithyroid drugs, b-adrenergic blocking agents, carbamazepine, chloral hydrate, diazepam, dopamine and dopamine agonists, ethionamide, glucocorticoids, heparin, hepatic enzyme inducers, insulin, iodinated cholestographic agents, iodine- containing compounds, levodopa, lovastatin, lithium, 6-mercaptopurine, metoclopramide, mitotane, nitroprusside, phenobarbital, phenytoin, resorcinol, rifampin, somatostatin analogs, sulfonamides, sulfonylureas, thiazide diuretics.
Adrenocorticoids: Metabolic clearance of adrenocorticoids is decreased in hypothyroid patients and increased in hyperthyroid patients, and may therefore change with changing thyroid status.
Amiodarone: Amiodarone therapy alone can cause hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism.
Anticoagulants (Oral): The hypoprothrombinemic effect of anticoagulants may be potentiated, apparently by increased catabloism of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors.
Antidiabetic Agents (Insulin, Sulfonylureas): Requirements for insulin or oral antidiabetic agents may be reduced in hypothyroid patients with diabetes mellitus and may subsequently increase with the initiation of thyroid hormone replacement therapy.
b-Adrenergic Blocking Agents: Actions of some of beta-blocking agents may be impaired when hypothyroid patients become euthyroid.
Cytokines (interferon, interleukin): Cytokines have been reported to induce both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism.
Digitalis Glycosides: Therapeutic effects of digitalis glycosides may be reduced. Serum digitalis levels may be decreased in hyperthyroidism or when a hypothyroid patient becomes euthyroid.
Ketamine: Marked hypertension and tachycardia have been reported in association with concomitant administration of levothyroxine sodium and ketamine.
Maprotiline: Risk of cardiac arrhythmias may increase.
Sodium Iodide (123I and 131I), Sodium Pertechnetate Tc99m: Uptake of radiolabeled ions may be decreased.
Somatrem/Somatropin: Excessive concurrent use of thyroid hormone may accelerate epiphyseal closure. Untreated hypothyroidism may interfere with the growth response to somatrem or somatropin.
Theophylline: Theophylline clearance may decrease in hypothyroid patients and return toward normal when a euthyroid state is achieved.
Tricyclic Antidepressants: Concurrent use may increase the therapeutic and toxic effects of both drugs, possibly due to increased catecholamine sensitivity. Onset of action of tricyclics may be accelerated.
Sympathomimetic Agents: Possible increased risk of coronary insufficiency in patients with coronary artery disease.
...Ever tried to go off the Synthroid? What happens?
d-allergy - "take minimum sometimes only 1/2 tablet as needed.
Allergist said he was surprised that was prescribed for me with my circulation issues. Result is that it relieves the pressure and since it is a decongestant, loosens the phlegm that clings to my esophagus and bronchial tubes giving great relief. (I) Try to avoid this unless absolutely necessary."
HOMEOPATHIC CAUTION: decongestion, phlegm/ bronchial. Primary action and side effects of drug will become stronger in conjunction with homeopathic remedies. M.D. consult in drug removal. Monitor blood pressure changes under homeopathy. See potential D-Allergy side effects in the elderly below. Possibly relation to existing symptoms? Possible aggravation under homeopathy if the drug is retained.

Antihistaminic (H 1 -receptor)-decongestant-anticholinergic-Chlorpheniramine, Phenylephrine, and Methscopolamine
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Description
Antihistamine, decongestant, and anticholinergic combinations are used to treat the nasal congestion (stuffy nose) and runny nose caused by allergies and/or the common cold.
Antihistamines work by preventing the effects of a substance called histamine, which is produced by the body. Histamine can cause itching, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes. The antihistamine contained in these combinations is chlorpheniramine.
The decongestants in these combinations, phenylephrine, and pseudoephedrine produce a narrowing of blood vessels. This leads to clearing of nasal congestion, but it may also cause an increase in blood pressure in patients who have high blood pressure.
Anticholinergics, such as atropine, hyoscyamine, methscopolamine, and scopolamine may help produce a drying effect in the nose and chest.
These combinations are available only with your doctor's prescription in the following dosage forms:
Chlorpheniramine, Phenylephrine, and Methscopolamine
Extended-release capsules (U.S.)
Syrup (U.S.)
Tablets (U.S.)
Chewable tablets (U.S.)
Extended-release tablets (U.S.)
Chlorpheniramine, Pseudoephedrine, and Methscopolamine
Extended-release tablets (U.S.)

Before Using This Medicine
In deciding to use a medicine, the risks of taking the medicine must be weighed against the good it will do. This is a decision you and your doctor will make. For antihistamine, decongestant, and anticholinergic combinations, the following should be considered:
Allergies-Tell your doctor if you have ever had any unusual or allergic reactions to antihistamines or anticholinergics, or to amphetamine, dextroamphetamine (e.g., Dexedrine), ephedrine (e.g., Ephed II), epinephrine (e.g., Adrenalin), isoproterenol (e.g., Isuprel), metaproterenol (e.g., Alupent), methamphetamine (e.g., Desoxyn), norepinephrine (e.g., Levophed), phenylephrine (e.g., Neo-Synephrine), pseudoephedrine (e.g., Sudafed), or terbutaline (e.g., Brethine). Also, tell your health care professional if you are allergic to any other substances, such as foods, preservatives, or dyes.
Pregnancy-For the individual ingredients of these combinations, the following apply:
Antihistamines -Antihistamines have not been shown to cause problems in humans.
Atropine -Studies on effects in pregnancy have not been done in humans. Atropine has not been shown to cause birth defects or other problems in animals.
Hyoscyamine -Studies on effects in pregnancy have not been done in either humans or animals.
Methscopolamine -Studies on effects in pregnancy have not been done in either humans or animals.
Phenylephrine -Studies on birth defects have not been done in either humans or animals.
Pseudoephedrine -Studies on birth defects have not been done in humans. Pseudoephedrine has not been shown to cause birth defects in animal studies. However, studies in animals have shown that pseudoephedrine causes a reduction in average weight, length, and rate of bone formation in the animal fetus.
Scopolamine -Studies on effects in pregnancy have not been done in pregnant women. However, studies in animals at doses many times the human dose have shown that scopolamine causes a small increase in the number of fetal deaths.
Breast-feeding-Small amounts of antihistamines, decongestants, and anticholinergics may pass into the breast milk. Use is not recommended since this medicine may cause side effects, such as unusual excitement or irritability, in the nursing baby. Also, since this medicine tends to decrease the secretions of the body, it is possible that the flow of breast milk may be reduced in some women.
Children-Very young children are usually more sensitive than adults to the effects of this medicine. Increases in blood pressure, nightmares or unusual excitement, nervousness, restlessness, or irritability may be more likely to occur in children. Also, when anticholinergics are given to children during hot weather, a rapid increase in body temperature may occur, which may lead to heat stroke. In infants and children, especially those with spastic paralysis or brain damage, this medicine may be especially likely to cause severe side effects.
Older adults-Confusion or memory loss, difficult and painful urination, dizziness, drowsiness, dryness of mouth, or convulsions (seizures) may be more likely to occur in the elderly, who are usually more sensitive than younger adults to the effects of this medicine. Also, nightmares or unusual excitement, nervousness, restlessness, or irritability may be more likely to occur in elderly patients. In addition, eye pain may occur, which may be a sign of glaucoma.
Other medicines-Although certain medicines should not be used together at all, in other cases different medicines may be used together even if an interaction might occur. In these cases, your doctor may want to change the dose, or other precautions may be necessary. When you are taking this medicine it is especially important that your health care professional know if you are taking any of the following:
Amantadine (e.g., Symmetrel) or

Medicine for colds, sinus problems, or hay fever or other allergies (including nose drops or sprays) or
Methylphenidate (e.g., Ritalin) or
Nabilone (e.g., Cesamet) or
Pemoline (e.g., Cylert)-Using any of these medicines together with a decongestant-containing combination may cause excessive stimulant side effects, such as difficulty in sleeping, heart rate problems, nervousness, and irritability
Central nervous system (CNS) depressants-Using these combinations with CNS depressants may worsen the effects (e.g., drowsiness) of CNS depressants or antihistamines
Monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors (furazolidone [e.g., Furoxone], isocarboxazid [e.g., Marplan], phenelzine [e.g., Nardil], procarbazine [e.g., Matulane], selegiline [e.g., Eldepryl], tranylcypromine [e.g., Parnate])-Taking an antihistamine, decongestant, and anticholinergic combination while you are taking or within 2 weeks of taking MAO inhibitors, may make the side effects of the antihistamines, decongestants, and anticholinergics more severe; these medicines should not be used together
Other anticholinergics (medicine for abdominal or stomach spasms or cramps)-Side effects of antihistamines or anticholinergics, such as dryness of mouth, may be more likely to occur
Potassium chloride (e.g., Kay Ciel)-Using this medicine with an anticholinergic-containing medicine may make gastrointestinal problems caused by potassium worse
Rauwolfia alkaloids (alseroxylon [e.g., Rauwiloid], deserpidine [e.g., Harmonyl], rauwolfia serpentina [e.g., Raudixin], reserpine [e.g., Serpasil])-These medicines may increase or decrease the effect of the decongestant in this medicine

Other medical problems-The presence of other medical problems may affect the use of antihistamine, decongestant, and anticholinergic combinations. Make sure you tell your doctor if you have any other medical problems, especially:
Brain damage in children or
Down syndrome or
Dryness of mouth (severe and continuing) or
Enlarged prostate or
Fever or
Glaucoma or
Intestinal blockage or other intestinal problems or
Kidney disease or
Liver disease or
Lung disease or
Mental or emotional problems or
Myasthenia gravis or
Toxemia of pregnancy or

Precautions While Using This Medicine
Check with your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or become worse, or if you have a high fever.
Before you have any skin tests for allergies, tell the doctor in charge that you are taking this medicine. The results of the test may be affected by the antihistamine in this medicine.
These medicines may make you sweat less, causing your body temperature to increase. Use extra care not to become overheated during exercise or hot weather while you are taking this medicine , since overheating may result in heat stroke. Also hot baths or saunas may make you dizzy or faint while you are taking this medicine.
The anticholinergic contained in this medicine may cause some people to have blurred vision. Make sure your vision is clear before you drive or do anything else that could be dangerous if you are not able to see well . These medicines may also cause your eyes to become more sensitive to light than they are normally. Wearing sunglasses may help lessen the discomfort from bright light.
These medicines may cause some people to become dizzy or drowsy. Make sure you know how you react to this medicine before you drive, use machines, or do anything else that could be dangerous if you are dizzy or are not alert .
The decongestant in this medicine may cause some people to be nervous or restless or to have trouble in sleeping. If you have trouble in sleeping, take the last dose of this medicine for each day a few hours before bedtime . If you have any questions about this, check with your doctor.
Before having any kind of surgery (including dental surgery) or emergency treatment, tell the medical doctor or dentist in charge that you are taking this medicine.
This medicine may cause dryness of the mouth, nose, and throat. For temporary relief, use sugarless candy or gum, melt bits of ice in your mouth, or use a saliva substitute. However, if your mouth continues to feel dry for more than 2 weeks, check with your dentist. Continuing dryness of the mouth may increase the chance of dental disease, including tooth decay, gum disease, and fungus infections.
If you think you or someone else may have taken an overdose, get emergency help at once . Taking an overdose of this medicine or taking this medicine with alcohol or other CNS depressants may lead to unconsciousness and possibly death.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GENERIC NAME: fexofenadine
BRAND NAME: Allegra
DRUG CLASS AND MECHANISM: Fexofenadine is an oral, "second generation" antihistamine that is used to treat the signs and symptoms of allergy that are due to histamine. It is similar to the other second generation antihistamines loratadine (Claritin), cetirizine (Zyrtec) and azelastine (Astelin). Histamine is a chemical that is responsible for many of the signs and symptoms of allergic reactions, for example, swelling of the lining of the nose, sneezing, and itchy eyes. Histamine is released from histamine-storing cells (mast cells) and then attaches to other cells that have receptors for histamine. The attachment of the histamine to the receptors causes the cell to be "activated," releasing other chemicals that produce the effects that we associate with allergy, e.g., sneezing. Fexofenadine blocks one type of receptor for histamine (the H1 receptor) and thus prevents activation of H1 receptor-containing cells by histamine. Unlike the first generation antihistamines, fexofenadine and other second-generation antihistamines do not readily enter the brain from the blood, and, therefore, they cause less drowsiness. Fexofenadine was approved by the FDA in July, 1995.

NURSING MOTHERS: Fexofenadine has not been adequately studied in women who are breast-feeding.
SIDE EFFECTS: The most common side effects of fexofenadine are nausea, vomiting, weakness and sleepiness.
Natural over the counter:
Premarin Crème - dime size daily - wish there was a better method of dispensing so it would be regular.
HOMEOPATHIC CAUTION: Topical/ suppressed psora inducer. Drives the symptoms and disease condition further inward. Best to reduce and allow the symptoms to be exposed for homeopathic remedy attack.
PREMARIN® (conjugated estrogens) Vaginal Cream is used to treat dryness, itching, and burning, in and around the vagina due to menopause.
PREMARIN and PREMPRO should be used at the lowest effective dose and for the shortest duration consistent with your treatment goals and risks. If using PREMARIN or PREMPRO only to treat your symptoms of vaginal dryness, consider topical therapies first. If you do not have symptoms, non-estrogen treatments should be carefully considered before taking PREMARIN and PREMPRO solely for the prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis.
In a clinical trial, the most commonly reported (>5%) side effects that occurred more frequently with PREMARIN than with placebo were vaginitis due to yeast or other causes, vaginal bleeding, painful menstruation, and leg cramps.
In a clinical trial, the most commonly reported (>5%) side effects that occurred more frequently with PREMPRO 0.45 mg/1.5 mg and PREMPRO 0.625 mg/2.5 mg than with placebo were breast pain/enlargement, vaginitis due to yeast or other causes, leg cramps, vaginal spotting/bleeding, and painful menstruation. In a clinical trial, there was no difference in the commonly reported (>5%) side effects for women taking PREMPRO 0.3 mg/1.5 mg compared to those taking placebo.
The most commonly reported side effects of PREMARIN Vaginal Cream include vaginal discomfort or pain, breast pain, vaginitis, and itching.
PREMARIN, PREMPRO, and PREMARIN Vaginal Cream should not be used if you have unusual vaginal bleeding, have or had cancer of the breast or uterus, had a stroke or heart attack in the past year, have or had blood clots, have liver problems, are allergic to any of the ingredients in PREMARIN, PREMPRO, or PREMARIN Vaginal Cream, or think you may be pregnant. In general, the addition of a progestin is recommended for women with a uterus to reduce the chance of getting cancer of the uterus.
DHEA 50 mg daily
HOMEOPATHIC CAUTION: Similar to Pregnenelone in that it supports Adrenal Fatigue, but may have an adverse “feedback”/ adrenal shutdown relation with prolonged use (similar to excess Cortisol supplementation). Lesser known primary and secondary actions. Best to trim out as able to avoid contraindications with remedies and primary prescription drugs.
One of the most striking effects of DHEA is its ability to induce weight loss in laboratory animals, even when these animals are given as much food as they want. This remarkable finding by Dr. Arthur Schwartz of Temple University Medical School in the 1980's produced tremendous interest in the possibility of using DHEA as a weight loss therapy in humans. Recent research has begun to show how DHEA exerts its extraordinary weight loss effects. Source: xpressnet.com
Background-Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) or it’s sulfate derivative (DHEA-S) is the major C19 steroid hormone secreted by the adrenal cortex. It has been claimed that it has an inverse correlation with atherogenesis through its antiproliferative effect. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of DHEA-S on coronary artery disease(CAD). Source: ams.ac.ir
DHEA has ... been found to have a positive effect on memory. When 500 mg of DHEA was administered to subjects an hour before bed, there was a significant increase in recorded REM (dream) sleep for two hours afterward. Dreams are thought to facilitate memory consolidation.18 Source: galensgarden.com
Because Mexican Wild Yam contains precursors to DHEA, many unscrupulous companies are trying to masquerade this herb for the real thing. Mexican Wild Yam does not contain any DHEA. Mexican Wild Yam has not been shown in any studies to have the positive effects that real DHEA has. AST Sports Science uses only pharmaceutical quality DHEA. Source: vitaminproshop.com
Significant amounts of DHEA are made only by humans and primates, such as apes, gorillas, and monkeys. Rodents, such as mice or rats, have only small amounts circulating in their bloodstream. DHEA administration in rodents has often shown beneficial effects, but many researchers caution about making health claims for humans based solely on rodent studies. Source: healthy.net
Synthetic analogs of DHEA have been developed in an effort to elimiante the potiential liabilities of DHEA, such as increased uterine weight in sexually immature female rats and of increased seminal vesicle weight in castrated male rats. These analogs do not increase liver weight or stimulate liver catalase activity in mice (Schwartz, 1988). However, considerable testingremains to be done before the analogs achieve the status of natural DHEA. Other side effects will become apparent in any analog of DHEA. Do not prescribe natural DHEA for sexually immature females or castrated males.
5HTP - 5 tablets - 2 a.m. and 3 p.m.
HOMEOPATHIC CAUTION: Falls under the category of “mind altering” drugs, albeit a natural variant. Though marketed as wonderful, I would be very careful with 5HTP use even if beloved to your favorite M.D.’s. My personal experience with the Mood Sync (5HTP) product prescribed by a naturopathic M.D. is that I could not use it just once without severe reaction. I suffered greatly increased and sudden Anxiety, vision red-out/ hypoxia, palpitation, and felt like I was having a heart attack; Felt like dying. It seemed to aggravate all symptoms I was having while fighting Hypoglycemia and the yeast infection. My theory is that whatever neurotoxins, allergens, or out of balance blood chemistry I had at the time...it only helped to drive across the blood-brain barrier. For you, it seems to provide some relief. However, as homeopathic remedies kick in, continued use of the product -- as with the other drugs -- may cause you confusing problems. Perhaps a gradual weaning off on all fronts is the way to go while talking to your doc about gradual removal of prescription drugs as you feel better. Synthroid and 5HTP are the ones most likely to cause you long-term overdose problems and side effects or contraindications with homeopathy.
5-HTP Uses, Dosage, Side Effects & Contraindications
What is 5 HTP
5 HTP is the metabolic precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin. Tryptophane, an essential amino acid, is metabolized into 5-HTP by the body. 5 HTP is in turn, converted into the neurotransmitter Serotonin. Serotonin is responsible for mood, hunger and sleep. Antidepressant drugs approved by the FDA, including selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRI's) such as Prozac, are said to work by increasing the amount of serotonin available to the brain. 5 HTP, therefore, may for some individuals, serve as a natural alternative to some prescription SSRI type drugs like Prozac.
Supplementing either Tryptophane or 5 HTP increases Serotonin levels by supplying more of the building block material needed to make this neurotransmitter. Low levels of Serotonin have been associated with depression, fibromyalgia, chronic pain, altered mood, insomnia, PMS, and headaches. Both tryptophane and 5 HTP are sometimes used as nutritional support for these conditions. 5 HTP is about five times more potent than Tryptophane for this application.
5 HTP for Mood Elevation, Depression and Panic Attacks
According to medical journals and reviews it ihas been proven that 5 HTP helps improve moods of depressed patients and helps panic attacks. The same sources generally recommended that more research on 5 HTP should be done before claims were made.
5 HTP for Sleep and Weight Loss
5 HTP may aid in weight loss and improve sleep patterns for some individuals. Research suggests that good serotonin levels may reduce apetite thereby assisting in weight loss. Serotonin is converted into melatonin in the pineal gland and melatonin, in turn, regulates sleep cycles. The theory is that if 5 HTP can increase serotonin levels, it may be able to improve sleep and aid in weight loss. In the medical articles reviewed, positive results have been reported but the authors caution that more research is needed before claims can be made.
5 HTP Dosage
As with all nutritional supplements or medications, individual response is a variable. It is clear that large excesses of serotonin in the peripheral circulation can cause cardiovascular disease and other adverse effects. Too much 5 HTP in the diet could potentially result in too much serotonin in the peripheral circulation.
Some sources suggest that 5 HTP can be safely used as a nutritional supplement at a dosage of up to 100 milligrams (mg) per day. Some authorities maintain that much larger dosages can be consumed without adverse effects. Some also suggest that 5 HTP, especially in larger doses should be used with the prescription drug carbidopa. The purpose of this drug is to prevent the 5 HTP from being converted to serotonin in the peripheral circulation.
5 HTP Precautions & Side Effects
5 HTP is available without prescription and is generally considered safe and may be beneficial to many individuals. Contraindications to 5 HTP use or conditions under which 5 HTP use should only be under the supervision of a physician are conditions in which increased serotonin levels may be harmful:
Cardiovascular Diseases (high blood pressure, post-stroke, post-heart attack)
Extremely Elderly Persons
those with Parkinsons Disease, Cancer or Autoimmune Diseases (Scleroderma, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus)
Lung Diseases
Chronic Alcoholism
Liver diseases (hepatitis or cirrhosis)
parasitic infection

Concurrent drug use: 5 HTP should not be used if taking:
Anti-depressant drugs
Monoamine oxidase inhibitors
Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI's e.g., Prozac)
Tricyclic medications
Weight Loss medications (i.e., dextenfluramine)
Anti-parkinson medications (e.g., L-dopa)

Intravenous (illegal I.V.) drugs
Cancer chemotherapy or
Antibiotic Medications
Alcohol and 5-HTP should not be taken together. Allow at least six hours between use of alcohol and 5 HTP.
Warning: 5 HTP can increase the effect of some tranquilizing drugs.
2) Yes it could be weakening my adrenal condition but as said above I do not take it unless critically necessary. Allows me to think better - eliminates or minimizes some of the mental distortions I feel.
3) .....Try to reduce as able.
6) Age 4 - broke my nose riding my bike down 50 concrete stairs. ...NOT REALLY TRAUMA.
Age 8 Fell out of the swing and got sort of knocked unconscious. ...NOT REALLY TRAUMA.
16 - Girlfriend and I were horseback riding bareback and I was on the back. We fell off and she landed on my head. ...NOT REALLY TRAUMA.
22 - Whiplash when rear ended by a semi. ....NOT REALLY HEAD TRUAMA, BUT I’VE BEEN HIT BY A SEMI BEFORE AND KNOW HOW IT FEELS. LIKE BEING HIT BY A FREIGHT TRAIN. LOTS OF G’S PULLED.
47 - ladder fall. Rolled backwards and struck my head on a rock. Concussion, two days of nausea and vision issues. SIGNIFICANT TRAUMA.
48 -Struck my head hard on the support post in the basement when I fell down the stairs. Knocked some floaters loose in my eyes. Didn't seem to be a concussion. INSIGNIFICANT TRAUMA
55 - Hit head on right side against door post - full body weight. No mental or visual problems. TRIVIAL
Fell on the ice and hit my head falling backward. Age?Childhood
...#47 (age 47) is really about the only considerable head trauma I’d stamp to your life, but is probably mostly healed by now.
Check out my website and read the story of Gunney Chuck (USMC) -- 3 Purple Hearts/ 3 Silver Stars. Shrapnel to the head and neck; Baseball sized chunk of his skull blown out; Brains reinserted and bolted back with metal plates; Facial reconstruction; Nose rebuilt; Over 100 surgical operations. That’s serious head trauma! You are capable of much more abuse to the noggin; Don’t sweat it so much. :-) Other than the ladder fall, every “head trauma” you’ve experienced is about what I have in my life as once a roughneck boy. Only makes you stronger. In my experience, there are two types of head injuries: 1) The trivial type which makes you angry and meaner; 2) The knock-down hits which stun, disorient, knock out, and are more serious but not exactly “trauma”. Trauma I call it when life-threatening and requiring physician intervention -- severe blood loss, swelling, fractured skull, crainal pressure, etc. All else is just part of life, though you do seem a bit on the clumsy side. This excess clumsiness maybe points to a lack of coordination and slightly confused state among mental and physical illness. I am always more clumsy / prone to injury -- and more so these days -- while sick and especially with this condition.
Thanks for the honesty. Never had control of my life. (GET IT BACK! ELSE, YOU’RE JUST WASTING TIME IN UNPRODUCTIVE HYPOCHONDRIA. IF YOU REGAIN CONTROL, IT AIN’T HYPOCHONDRIA.)
7) Liver swells. Have a few but not always evident. One internist in the 80's was sure I was a drinker but I never drank. Liver was 3+ times normal in size.

Felt - like I was full term and the baby was pushing up under my ribs.
Possibly it is really the splenic flecture.
Right now that area is bothering me.
Feeling a lot of fatigue when that happens.
Get weak in my legs strangely.
9) I did use zinc and vitamin C. Improving. Cold symptoms if they were there were camouflaged by the allergies. Eyes did itch once though. I have been sick so long in my life that I can't recognize a simple cold.
10) I agree. What I read led me to use the 5HTP. I have used raw adrenal for long periods of time to
relieve the fight-or-flight response (ANXIETY/ FEAR/ KIDNEY/ ADRENAL/ WATER) that was prevalent during the heart arrhythmia last summer. Unfortunately I do have to eat something before bed (GLYCEMIC INSTABILITY/ ADRENAL FATIGUE) and the weight is coming on as a result. I wouldn't be able to go to sleep or stay asleep if I didn't. I use almonds, or 1/2 banana, or small bran cereal with rice milk.
11) I have been but with the extreme mold in the air I finally had to use it. Don't use it much at all maybe a partial pill over two days.
12) When I go off them I regress immediately into oblivion and am completely non-functional. I tried an allergist here who does the conventional method. He wouldn't listen to me and I tried to work with him about two weeks and seriously regressed. I used B12 nasally and am convinced of the benefits of nasal application. I'll ask the doctor what he uses. He is very very savvy about natural medicine so I really doubt if that is the method/suspension he uses. We'll find out.
13) I got out as much of the amalgams as I could and now have gold crowns and ceramic crowns. Feel better with them removed. From age 8 I have had my teeth repeatedly filled. I would like to do the EB Therapy (the foot bath with saline solution that made me feel so much better I told you about) to get the metals out. Is there any other way to do that with homeopathy?
....SOUNDS SIMILAR TO THE AQUA-CHI WHICH FRIENDS HAVE REPORTED AMAZING RESULTS FROM. HOMEOPATHY DOESN’T LIKE SUCH THINGS BECAUSE, THOUGH PERHAPS THEY PURGE THE BODY OF TOXINS, ALSO PURGES THE SYSTEM OF UNKNOWN NUTRIENTS. WE SEE IT LIKE A NEW FORM OF BLEEDING BY LEECHES, BASICALLY. AT THE SAME TIME, I TAKE A NATUROPATHIC VIEW TO SUCH THINGS AND SEE THEM AS POTENTIALLY HELPFUL. BUT, MOSTLY, HOMEOPATHY DEALS IN STRICTLY YOUR SYMPTOM SET AND THE REMEDIES WHICH APPLY TO THAT. CHELATION COMES AS A NATURAL FUNCTION OF THE BODY PUT BACK IN ORDER, AND SO THE HEAVY METALS ISSUE IS IRRELEVANT TO US.
